Resurrection Sunday- EASTER

Well, now that I got the fun stuff out of the way....

Yes, on Easter Sunday, we did also pull out the bible & the "Resurrection eggs", BEFORE doing the Easter egg hunt. We put all the Easter symbols out on the table, and Chris was the designated "animator" who was in charge of bringing "life" to the symbols & keeping things more interesting, as I did the bible-reading, etc. (You can visualize Chris jumping the donkey around the real palm branches that we'd brought in.... We didn't take pics of this.. ;) However, we do have a pic up of the palm branches & crown of thorns. (The crown of thorns was originally bought for Christmas decoration, but is much more suitable for Easter use. We are enjoying our palm branch- crown of thorns for Easter decorations..... )

We got all the way to the part of Jesus being buried in the tomb, and that is where we paused to do the egg hunt, explaining that Jesus was buried in the tomb for 3 days, just like those eggs were hiding out there..... and that we were going to go find those eggs, just like Jesus' friends went to go find him....

Egg hunt... hunting... hunting.....

We came back in and finished the story w/ the Resurrection of Jesus & the gospel.

The kids weren't allowed to have any candy of the eggs until they answered correctly a series of questions, based on what we've just discussed.
That is when we all went back outside again, and did the Q & A w/ the kids. They had to answer 3 or more ?'s right before opening a candy-filled egg.

We all had a great fun-filled, meaningful, & Christ-centered Easter!

God bless you & yours! :)

Easter Egg Decorating & Egg-Hunting Photos

Nope, these pictures are not landing at ALL where I've wanted them to. And since I couldn't land these pics right where I wanted to, which was right next to the 1st post, WITHIN the very thing I was talking about.... here they are ..... in a whole other "post". ;)

Feel free to help me w/ this, please. ;)

Anyhow, here's a cute pic of the "kidlin's" hunting eggs. If you look closely, there is a yellow, transparent egg in the yellow- flowered bush, behind Cody. If you find it, you will win a grand, grand prize! :) =Satisfaction!-- That's right- satisfaction! :)

We also added camoflouge eggs to our collection this year. What fun! We didn't take any pics of that, because we were too busy trying to FIND them! -Even DAD & MOM!! :) Oh yes! --It IS fun! One egg is still hiding somewhere.....

I reccomend you Mom & Dads get in on the finding egg- thing too! If you're not doing it... boy!-- Are you missing out!! :)

I reccomend you try those camoflouge eggs too! Wow! That's a challenge!

The ugly, dyed "edible" egg, after the shell removed from the egg dyed w/ food-pens. I've eaten them, and I can and will eat them..... I'd just rather not. It'd be healthier another way, ya know.....

Evidently, this is what could happen to you when you use food-dyes... ;) LOL

Decorated w/ coloring pencils....

Food-pen decorating...

Decorated by food-pens...

Decorated by a 6 yr. old boy, using

food-pens, and a red pencil... which

is an artistic version of a fire-truck.... ;)

Have you ever seen such an egg?

"Isn't there a better way to color Easter eggs?"

My first post is not about deep, meaningful, mind-penetrating stuff....
It's just PRACTICAL.....

It is just simply: "Isn't there a better way to color Easter eggs?"

Yes, I could go into all the meaning of what Easter is really all about.

I might do that some time. .....
But right now I just wan'na say:

"Isn't there a better way to color Easter eggs?"

I've always wanted to create the kind of eggs you see on pretty stickers, and on magazine covers... You know?- The kind w/ stripes, dots, wavy lines, etc....

So I hunted for something to do that with...

Do they have such a thing in the Easter section? Nope.

But I did happen to find food coloring "pens" in the cake-box aisle.

It only had a measly 4 colors.... but we tried it...

We in fact, turned this into a whole experiment, all together....

So there we were at the table.... w/ food coloring pens, colored pencils, highlighter pens, and the most "TOXIC" of all: permanent markers! Yes! It's true!

My aim was to get those eggs decorated JUST the way WE wanted them, WITHOUT making a mess on ourselves, or having the egg all dyed inside..... Which would be funner, and healthier.

So.... we 1st tried the food-coloring pens. Not bad results.... but not desirable, either. They smeared all over. The design was easily smeared, and that meant, your hands were covered in dye... :( ..... and so was the edible egg inside that we are to eat. And we're limited to only 4 measly colors to work with. Status: Food coloring pens: NOT good enough.

2nd we tried the highlighting markers. -Thought they'd be less toxic than the permanent markers, and less messy than the food-pens. Not bad. -Still color limited though. I don't remember them absorbing thru the shell to the food part of the egg, and that was good! And they were so light, there wasn't much to see on your skin, and that was good.... but still, there COULD be something even better!

Afterall... God DID say to do our best "as to the Lord".

And I do like to do most every thing my very best! :)

So next, was the permanent markers.... kinda concerning...... I was thinking these were going to be in-edible eggs..... But.... what happened is they did NOT make a mess! -Not on me, and not even on the edible egg inside!! Yay! And they were happily decorated w/ lines, wavys, dots, etc. ... Just the way we wanted! :) (We used the fine pointed markers.)

Lastly, we tried the coloring pencils. I knew these were not going to dye the egg inside! They colored nicely too, and w/ out the mess. But I do still like the permanent marker!

There you have it folks!

It's quite possible that no body even cares but me... but... in the case someone does..... you just be sure and let me know!! ;)
